Ghanaian legend Asamoah Gyan has made a surprise return to his country, signing for the top-notch Legon Cities.

The 34-year-old, who is Africa’s top scorer in World Cup history, has been a free agent since the beginning of the year following his departure from NorthEast United FC of the Indian Super League.

Egyptian Premier League team Wadi Degla was strongly linked to the signing of the former Ghana star, however KingFut confirmed the rumors are unfounded.

And now he’s agreed to join the local side of the Legon Cities, who are on a rebrand mission and have already made several high-class signings.

Ghana’s 2014 World Cup goalkeeper Fatau Dauda, former El-Makkasa and Entag El-Harby midfielder Abdul Latif Abubakari, Ghana’s U-20 forward and former Bayern Munich Trials player Matthew Anim Cudjoe are some of the names in the ranks of the club.

And now they have country legend Asamoah Gyan, who could make his debut against Berekum Chelsea in the first game of the GPL season in two weeks.
