RS Berkane secured his place in the African Confederation Cup final with a 2-1 win over compatriot club Hassania Agadir in Rabat on Monday night.
Two shots from captain Mohamed Aziz’s point in each half of the game allowed Berkane to enter Sunday’s decisive match.
Imad Kimaoui gave Hassania Agadir hope with the equalizer in the 30th minute after Mohamed Aziz scored the first goal for Berkane.
In a momentous first half, last year’s runner-up RS Berkane was denied a goal when VAR ruled out Mouhssine Yajour’s header.
But it didn’t take long for Berkane to take the lead via a penalty spot. The 2018/2019 finalist awaits his opponents after qualifying for the final.
The second semi-final will take place on Tuesday night when Egypt’s Pyramids FC take on Guinea’s Horoya.
The final of this season’s Confederation Cup, Africa’s second-tier club tournament, had been delayed since May due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
It is played in a mini-tournament design with both semifinals winning on the night rather than the traditional two-leg playoffs.
