Swansea City forward awaits Thursday’s meeting with North Africans on Cape Coast
Ghana captain Andre Ayew is not lost to the potential threat posed by Sudan ahead of their clash in the 2022 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers on Thursday.
The two teams are set for a Week 3 Group C showdown in the Ghanaian city of Cape Coast, five days before Sudan host the Black Stars in the reverse match.
“Now we have a lot of big teams in Africa that are good. From the big names, Senegal, Cameroon and Algeria, to the lower names like Sudan, etc. Sudan is a team that I have faced before, I think we drew here in a very difficult match in Kumasi, so I know what Sudan is capable of. “Ayew said at the pre-match press conference.
“But we are Ghana. And when you wear the Ghana jersey, you have to deliver, especially at home, so we have a choice. We are going to make sure we get the three points so that Unity and that love between us is maintained and improved over time.

“That’s why we want more games, more camps so that we can get to know each other more and more and create that love between us.
“As a coach [C.K Akonnor]They, he said, have been together for a long time, so they were able to build that attitude and spirit. But you know we have some of the seasoned players who are back. I think the spirit is great.
“I think the players have a goal and if we are 100 percent there is no reason why we should not get all three points and we will make sure that Ghanaians are proud and set foot in the next Afcon tournament.”
Ghana’s preparations for the game have been affected by late arrivals to camp and player withdrawals, with Arsenal deputy captain and midfielder Thomas Teye Partey being confirmed out of Sudan’s duels due to an injury that suffered while in club action on Sunday.
“It was not the best preparation because we did not have the complete team early so that the coach could do what he wanted from the beginning.
“But now that the squad is here, we have trained well, we are in shape, hopefully, there are no injuries and we will be ready to go. We are at home and when we are at home, there is only one thing on our mind and that is to add the three points, so we are going to do everything possible to make that happen ”.
Ghana will also not feature Columbus Crew right-back Harrison Afful, Real Mallorca midfielder Iddrisu Baba Mohammed, Chinese Mubarak Wakaso and Greuther Furth forward Jamie Leweling, who have retired from Akonnor’s 23-man original squad for the Sudan games.
