With an exceptional display of talents and skills, the youngsters from Adjamanikope managed to beat TamaToku 6-5 on penalties to lift the cup at this year’s McDan Ada youth tournament at La McDan Town Park yesterday.

The tournament held on the theme “Uniting Youth for Massive Development and Employment in Ada” featured ten (10) teams, 5 from Ada West and East.

Ada West’s Goi, Adjamanikope, Sege, Toflokpo and Nakomkope with TamaToku, Kasseh, Ada Foah, Ada and Big Ada also make up the Ada East teams.

Adjamanikope secured their last place with a single win over their Goi counterparts, while the highly rated team Sege narrowly lost to TamaToku in the first and second semi-final matches, respectively.

In a quest to lift the latter, both sides TamaToku and Adjamanikope played an exciting game in the final, but were unable to find the back of the nets after pushing hard, despite creating many opportunities.

Speaking after the event, McDan Group President Dr. Daniel McKorley expressed his joy at the youth skills demonstration.

“I was surprised to see the level of play of the teams, they only told me that most of the best players in the country are from Ada and if you go to Ada, there is not much to talk about in sports terms, but they have the heart and the tenacity to play. So I think the time is right for what little I can do for them, “said Dr. Daniel McKorley.

He added that plans have been made to build more lawns in the country to create jobs for young people.

“The reason we are building more lawns is to create jobs for taxi drivers, street vendors and everyone, so we are ready to build one in the north, two in Ada, we are also building a large one in Bawaleshie and Teshie. This It is what I am doing to touch many lives in the country ”, he added.

Wembley Construction CEO, Mr. Robert Coleman, revealed that their goal is to build and provide quality lawns in the country.

“At Wembley Construction we are determined to give Ghanaians the best when it comes to AstroTurfs in the country. We are a family with McDan and with all the lawns that will be built in the coming days they will be of the best standard and highly recommended by international communities. “said Wembley Construction CEO Robert Coleman.

The final winner, Adjamanikope, took home 10,000 cash cedis, including medals and trophies, while TamaToku, the first runner-up, returned home with 5,000 medals.

A selected side of Ada would close the horns with a selected side of La in a friendly match at a later date.

Former Black Stars players Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingson, Augustine Arhinful and George Alhassan, including other senior dignitaries from Ada’s traditional council, honored the successful occasion yesterday.
