President Akufo-Addo has revealed that the number of active Covid-19 cases has dropped to 398, putting the country’s recovery rate at 98.5%.
Addressing the nation for the eighteenth time since the virus outbreak in Ghana, the president stated that although the rate of recovery has increased, some deaths have also been recorded.
“46,664 people have fully recovered from the virus, putting our recovery rate at 98.5%. There have been 13 more deaths, bringing the total number of deaths, tragically, to 310, out of a total of 510,074 people examined. “
He stressed that the upgrade was based on a coordinated approach taken by his government to win the battle against the pandemic.
He said these benefits have also ensured that no further restrictions are placed on citizens.
“When you take a closer look at the measures that some other countries are having to take, including imposing night curfews and partial closures, declaring a state of emergency, limiting the number of people allowed in public gatherings, and imposing Mandatory fines on people for not wearing masks, all in an attempt to contain the second wave of the virus, we in Ghana have gotten rid of all these developments and restrictions.
“We must, therefore, be doing something right,” he added.
The president also took the opportunity to urge Ghanaians to observe Covid-19 protocols, as the virus remains a mystery.
“Despite our successes, I would like to reiterate that this virus remains a mystery, and we must always err on the side of caution and continue to observe the protocols that have got us where we are.
“As President of the Republic, I assured you of my continued commitment to limit and stop the importation of the virus, contain its spread, provide adequate care to the sick, stop the community spread, reduce the impact of the virus on society and the economy. life and seize the opportunity provided by this pandemic to expand our national production capacity and deepen our self-sufficiency.
“I remain committed to these goals and will not deviate from them,” promised the president.
