The Titanic beach along the Tema-Sakumono highway in Tema West municipality was left deserted on Good Friday as part of the Easter blockade to help stem a COVID-19 surge, Benjamin Xornam Glover reports.

Dozens of police officers from the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT), the Marine Police and the Formed Police Unit (FPU) were deployed to the coast to enforce government-instituted measures to deter people from flocking. to the beach.

When Graphic Online visited Titanic Beach on Good Friday, the entire stretch from Community Three Railroad Crossing to Sakumono was deserted as law enforcement officers were seen.

Both the Metropolitan Assembly of Tema and the Municipality of Tema Oeste were supporting security personnel with logistics to allow them to monitor and enforce restrictions.

The Metropolitan Security Council of Tema (MESEC) on Thursday broadcast a meeting during which they warned against non-compliance with COVID-19 protocols and other restrictions during Holy Week.
