League leaders Karela United FC will travel to Accra on Saturday to face the Grand Olympics in a matchday 10 clash at the Accra sports stadium.
Karela comes into the game buoyed by last Sunday’s 4-1 win against Berekum Chelsea at home, a result that took them to the top of the league table. Top forward Diawusie Taylor has scored 8 goals this season, sharing the top spot with WAFA’s Daniel Lomotey.
Karela United have lost two away games but have yet to lose at Accra Sports this season after a 1-1 draw against Accra Hearts of Oak. Ainyinasie’s team has fallen twice in the Brong Ahafo region, losing 2-1 to Bechem United and 3-1 to Techiman Eleven Wonders.
They have a Ghanaian Premier League winner, Sadique Alhassan, on the field and he has been instrumental in their campaign so far in seven of the nine games.
Karela is the only team with a 100% home win record after recording five wins in five games at Anyinasie CAM park. They started the campaign with a 2-2 draw against AshantiGold in an away game and then tied with Hearts of Oak (2-2).
On Saturday, they will face the Great Olympics at the Accra sports stadium in search of a victory to consolidate their position at the top of the table. Great Olympics have lost one (2-1) against AshantiGold, tied one and won 4 at home.
Coach Yaw Preko and Godwin Attrram got off to a great start on matchday 9 after a 2-0 win against Inter Allies. The two former Internationals have teamed up to replace Annor Walker, who is battling illness.
Their main goal is to make the Dade Boys a championship-winning team. The great captain of the Olympics, Gladson Awako, who was voted Player of the Month for December, has been the role model of the team in the current campaign, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists in the process.
Great Olympics are in 6th place with 14 points, three drifting leaders Karela United FC who are at 17 points.
