Bono regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (PNP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, is calling on the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service to ignore some charges made against him by former President John Dramani Mahama.
The former president, through his lawyer, Tony Lithur, accused the regional president, popularly known as Abronye DC, of making statements that tend to disturb the public peace.
Abronye DC allegedly accused the former president of not only killing former president John Evans Atta Mills, but also of hiring hitmen to kill some members of the ruling party.
But in a four-page response to the Police Service, the president of the nuclear power plant said that with his political background, it is unlikely that he would ever “make a statement, complaint or statement without the necessary evidence.”
Furthermore, although he has not received an official invitation from the police on the matter, it is important to note that in paragraph three of his complaint to the Police Service, he (John Mahama) described me as a person with a crazy mind ‘and the law does not “allow the police service to investigate a statement made by a person with a deranged mind.”
Therefore, he calls on the police to ignore the accusation and instead focus on investigating more realistic issues.
According to him, these problems include the investigation of former President Mahama by comments made about electoral commissioner Jean Mensa, which seeks to intimidate her.
“In 12th February 2020, Mr. Mahama, while speaking with some fishermen from the Western Region who made a courtesy call to him in their cantonment Office, said EC President Jean Mensa and his team will be responsible if the country falls into crisis after the 2020 General Election.
“Mr. Mahama added that,” before you, (Jean Mensa) became the Electoral Commission (president), this country was peaceful, so do nothing that creates chaos. “
These words of John Mahama are clear statements of intimidation.
The president of the Bono nuclear power plant, who said he attached a pen drive that has saved audio recordings and WhatsApp intelligence messages to corroborate the murder plot against him, also called for the arrest of the former bodyguard of the late President Evan Atta. Mills, for help with investigations into the latter’s death.
“In the prevailing circumstances of the late President’s disappearance, it was alleged that all CCTV and security televisions were malfunctioning. It was further alleged that when the former President was rushed to the hospital, the whereabouts of his ADC, Mr. Col Lante Lawson, were unknown.
“From the above, I am humbly asking the IADC to arrest and investigate Mr. Lante Lawson because from all angles it is clear that he was unable to protest against the former president.
