The assemblymen of the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly asked President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday to replace Mrs. Mariama Karley Amui, current Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) to continue his “good works.

They said that the success of each Assembly depended on the capable leadership demonstrated by the Chief Executive, from whom Madam Amui had “proven beyond a reasonable doubt” that the President of the Republic made the correct decision by designating her as MCE.

The call was made during the last general meeting of the Assembly for the year to review the activities for 2020 and put in place new strategies for a successful 2021.

Members of the Assembly from Laterbiokorshie, Abossey Okai, Mataheko, Sukura, Gbotsui, Nmenmette and Manbrook were present at the meeting; and four people appointed by the government.

Mr. Yakubu Abane Asoke, chairman and assembly member of Nmenmette described the MCE as a “unifier, peacemaker and good listener.”

“I have worked with many MCEs but this woman is different in the sense that although the Municipal Assembly is less than two years old, it has experienced growth in many sectors. She is a mother to all … During the period of lockdown, she led the Assembly to bring relief to many and made sure that everyone survived the period of hardship, ”he said.

Mr. Asoke said that he had instructed that the motion be forwarded to the Chief of Staff and taken to the Office of the President that it should not bypass the MCE and added: “We are appealing that if someone else is brought to us apart of our MCE, we are going to vote against that new person. ”

Muntari Wahab, a member of the Laterbiokorshie assembly, said the municipality had benefited from various development projects, such as schools, hospitals, sports facilities and roads started by the MCE.

“The MCE is someone who believes in development, as such, if given another chance to pursue his vision, the Assembly would become one of the best in Greater Accra,” he added.

Mrs Dora Osei Boateng, a member of Mataheko Assambly, also described the MCE as “sociable”.

He said that thanks to the efforts of the MCE, the construction of drainage systems began in their electoral area, a problem they faced for many years.

The MCE thanked President Akufo-Addo for the trust placed in her and congratulated him on his re-election as president for another term.

He also thanked Assembly members for their support during the period and said that the COVID-19 pandemic affected some Assembly activities and made revenue generation difficult, but was hopeful that 2021 would be a better year to meet all goals set.

At the meeting, the Assembly approved the 2017 Model Urban Passenger Transport Services Regulation to regulate urban passenger transport at the Assembly.

Looking the way forward for 2021, the Assembly planned to channel its common fund towards building a Municipal Court, Clinic at Abossey Okai, repairing faulty streetlights, renovating three basic schools, and building an Information Communication Technology and Library Complex ( TIC). Center.

The Assembly would also use its Internally Generated Funds to provide sheds for traders in the Onion Market and would undertake a Community Self Help Project, which would provide a financial supplement to support projects started by community leaders.
