Karela United coach Evans Adotey has expressed satisfaction with his team’s draw in Obuasi against Ashantigold on matchday one of the Ghana Premier League.
The Anyinase-based team earned a point on the road after a much better performance in the second half saw them tie for a 2-2 draw.
“I’m not very happy, but I’m happy … one point is better than zero,” he said after the game.
Karela United took the lead after a thunderous shot from forward Diawise Taylor deflected Ashantigold goalkeeper Bailou Mohammed, but the Miners rebounded immediately, matching Appiah McCarthy’s deflected free kick and a Hans Kwofie header.
But Samuel Ofori connected with a split pass on defense from Man of the Match Umar Bashiru to level the scores.
“It’s about setting your goals correctly and making sure your players follow the principles of the game. Having taken the lead… it took him less than 12 minutes to go down 2-1, ”Adotey added.
“Well, it’s a good start because we have two games at home, it is very important that I claim the 6 points as this will ensure that I am at the top of the league,” he concluded.
Karela United will be the next Inter Allies host at Anyinase.
