Medeama SC got off to a shaky start to their 2020-21 season with a 1-1 draw at home in the Grand Olympics on Sunday.
One goal in each half ensured the two teams split the spoils at Akoon Park.
Defender Ali Ouattara opened the scoring for the Mauves and Yellows with a powerful header in the first half.
But the visitors achieved parity after Michael Yeboah headed in the tie.
The home team will be disheartened after cheering for several scoring opportunities.
Backup manager Hamza Obeng kept faith in the troops who have excelled for the team in the past two seasons.
Judge Blay led the midfield alongside Eric Kwakwa and Michael Yeboah.
But the captain of the Olympics, Gladson Awako, impressed a lot with elegant passes, causing a lot of problems for the locals.
Medeama controlled the pace of the game, but struggled to cement his possession after the visitors took over.
Great Olympics displayed fantastic football art at Akoon Park to earn a well-deserved point.
It’s a massive result for the Wonder club, which were largely seen as the losers.
And they accomplished that feat with an excellent display against the two-time FA Cup champions.
The result left Medeama SC in seventh place, while the Olympics placed third after matchday one.
