AshantiGold SC failed to record their first win as they shared the spoils with Karela United in the first week of matches of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.
Karela United held the Miners boys to a 1-1 draw in the league opener at Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The guys from Pride and Passion started the game on a good note when they opened the door in the fifth minute through Diawusie Taylor.
Taylor opened the floodgate for Karela United with a good blow to frustrate the fans as the pressure continued to mount.
In the 23rd minute, Appiah McCarthy tied the score for AshantiGold SC with an impressive free kick as both sides failed to register a goal in the final fifteen minutes of the match.
AshantiGold SC was forced to make an early change after Mark Agyekum suffered an injury. He was replaced by Eric Esso.
The first half of the match ended in a draw.
At halftime, AshantiGold forward Hans Kwofie recorded his first goal of the season for AshantiGold SC to give them a 2-1 lead.
Substitute Samuel Ofori scored his tie for Karela United with a brilliant finish at the hour mark.
The two sides could be found guilty for failing to take advantage of the numerous opportunities and set pieces they were awarded when the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
