A former spokesman for former President Jerry John Rawlings, Kofi Adams, has praised his former boss, Jerry Rawlings, who died on Thursday, November 12 at Korle Bu University Hospital in Accra.
Adams said on the Key Point program on Saturday, November 14 on TV3 that Rawlings always made the people around him feel at home.
“He will make you feel at home and will always make you happy,” Adams told presenter Abena Tabi.
Several dignitaries, including former President John Agyekum Kufuor, have praised Mr. Rawlings.
Kufuor said history will definitely give the late former President Jerry John Rawlings a balanced place in Ghana.
In a statement in response to the news of his death on Friday, November 13, his successor, Mr. Kufuor, said: “My wife Theresa and I are deeply saddened by the passing of former President Jerry John Rawlings, whose reported untimely death yesterday came like lightning for us and our children.
“President Rawlings was the longest-serving head of state since our nation’s independence in 1957, and while we didn’t always agree on many issues with the state, I felt like he was trying to do the best he knew and could. , in its peculiar circumstances.
“When it came time for him to resign as president on January 7, 2001, he accepted and obviously tried to contain the reservations he had about me and my government that succeeded him and his government, within the limits of the national constitution of 1992.
“In this sense, if doubts persisted about his commitment to democratic government, it was attenuated and earned him a legacy of contributing to the maintenance of democratic governance in our country until his disappearance. History would give it a balanced place in the annals of our nation. “
