Elmina Sharks in Disorder After TEN PLAYERS Tested Positive for Deadly Coronavirus Disease before his first Ghana Premier League game.
Botwekumba is expected to face regional rivals Ebusua Dwarfs at Nduom Stadium on Sunday in their first match of the season.
“We can confirm that some of our players have tested positive for COVID 19,” Elmina Sharks said in a club statement Saturday morning.
“Since then they have been isolated and responding to treatment. We wish them the best and hope they will join us stronger.”
GHANAsoccernet.com understands that the match is likely to be canceled due to the high positive cases of coronavirus recorded in the shark camp.
A match between Hearts of Oak and Aduana Stars has already been canceled. The match was scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 2020.
Elmina Sharks fans are angry with their rivals Hearts of Oak who claim that the Accra giants infected their players with the deadly disease.
About a week ago, Hearts of Oak confirmed that three players from its squad tested positive for COVID-19.
Earlier, Sharks played the Phobians in a preseason friendly.
The Ghana Football Association has yet to release an official statement regarding the Sharks-Dwarfs match scheduled for Sunday.
