The mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs have been cleared by the Secretary General to participate in the upcoming Ghana Premier League after finding common ground with the lower-tier team Great Liverpool.

The Registrar General’s Department had directed the Ghana Football Association to expel the Ebusua Dwarves from participating in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League as the Crabs were in official liquidation and therefore could not function as an entity operational.

In January 2019, a Cape Coast court ordered the club’s liquidation after they failed to pay an undisclosed debt to a lower division club, Great Liverpool, for the transfer of Patrick Villars.

Great Liverpool had dragged the Dwarfs to court in an attempt to win back transfer fees from Villars who joined the Dwarfs from Great Liverpool in 1999.

The long legal battle concluded in January 2019 when the court approved a motion to liquidate the Dwarves in order to settle the debt.

In January 2020, the official liquidator wrote to the GFA to request that they void the dwarfs’ status as a Premier League club, but with the dwarfs actively participating in the truncated 2019/2020 league season, none were taken. measure.

The GFA received another letter to expel the Dwarfs from the Ghana Premier League or face contempt of court.

However, the Cape Coast-based team received permission to participate in the soon-to-start league after they settled the case amicably with Greater Liverpool just in time for the start of the season.

Below is an official letter from the Registrar General’s office confirming their authorization;

Ebusua Dwarfs will start their campaign with a home game against their western teammates Elmina Sharks on Sunday, November 15.
