The parliamentary candidate (NDC) for the Madina constituency in the Greater Accra region (GAR) on the ticket of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Francis Xavier Sosu has been caught touring the constituency buying projects that his government executed for the people of the constituency.
The NDC PC has reportedly been frequenting the residence of the immediate past Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Franklin Anku under the NDC administration led by former President John Dramani Mahama and party influencers for projects that the party ran while in government.
The ruling New Patriotic Party member of parliament for the Madina constituency, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, made this revelation in a debate organized by the Accra-based Asempa FM evening socio-political program called ‘Ekosi Sen’ presented by Phillip Osei Bonsu.
“We know in vain the residence of people who have been frequenting for the location of projects in La-Nkwantanang municipality,” he told NDC PC.
People from his own party have been telling us every time they visit him asking for projects his government did in the newly created municipality, he said.
He explained that it is a shame that the NDC candidate found himself in such a quagmire.
It would have been an easy job for him if his government had made projects in the area available after twelve years from a sitting member of Parliament on behalf of Amadu Sorogho, he said.
Locating projects in Medina would have been easy for you if your party gave itself to the people of the constituency, he added.
He argued that development is not about building castles in the air, but about what people can feel and what they have access to.
In the NDC’s attempt to throw dust in the eyes of the good people of the constituency in the run-up to the December 7, 2016 elections, it moved building materials to the Umar Bun Hatab Islamic School in Libya-Quarters for the construction of a six-unit block of classrooms to alleviate congestion at the school.
He said that for years the school has had to fight congestion and that the NDC was only hoping that the ruling NPP would come along and begin construction of a twelve-unit classroom near completion.
The good people of Medina know which party has the electorate at heart, today the Zongo areas in the constituency are seeing paved roads that used to be the preserve of the country’s presidential areas.
