The exercise that started early Monday morning in Wenchi in the Bono region saw all markets, shops and other public places disinfected. Amponsakrom, Subinso, Boku and other nearby cities also had their markets disinfected by Zoomlion sanitation officials with the support of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

Wenchifie Ntoase Elections Area Assemblyman Richmond Sarfo, speaking on behalf of the MCE, Dr. Prince Kwaakye Afriyie, said the quarterly disinfection exercise has become even more important as other countries are experiencing a second and third wave. of the virus.

He mentioned that the Assembly has provided enough Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers and nasal masks to market women as a measure to curb the spread.

“We know that the virus is still present, so we make sure that the spread is minimized,” he said.

He added that “we do not have to sit down for the virus to escape from our hands,” he emphasized.

The mother of the Wenchi Market Queen, Margaret Adwoa Yeboah, for her part thanked the market women for adhering to the security protocols and especially for closing their stalls to ensure the success of the exercise.
