The former Nerazzurri defender is delighted to see a Belgian international at San Siro after he was allowed to walk away from a “bad” situation in England
Manchester United “did not understand” the potential of Romelu Lukaku, says Ivan Córdoba, and Inter benefited from a surprising transfer call at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils invested heavily in a Premier League scorer by acquiring the Belgian international from Everton in 2017.
Lukaku registered 42 goals in 96 appearances for United, but began to fall out of favor when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer inherited the managerial reins from José Mourinho.
That eventually led to exits, with Inter happy to offer the 26-year-old a clean slate in Italy.
Córdoba is delighted to see a prolific presence in the books of his old club, but has wondered why United was prepared to part with a player who clearly still had a lot to offer.
The former Inter defender told the Daily mail: “Lukaku is an extraordinary player.
“Manchester United did not understand the potential of the player and his last season was bad for him. In my opinion, Lukaku is proving that everyone is a champion.
“It is decided and the Premier League has improved it a lot. I met him: he’s a positive leader in the locker room.
“It is a shame that Manchester United sold it, but I am happy that Inter bought it. Antonio Conte has been essential for his form at Inter. “
Lukaku has found the target 23 times for Inter, through just 35 appearances.
Several well-known faces from his time in the Premier League also joined him in Milan.
Ashley Young has traveled the same path from Manchester United, while Christian Eriksen has been captured by Tottenham and Victor Moses is receiving a loan from Chelsea.

Córdoba hopes that all these agreements will benefit Inter, saying: “Eriksen and Young are excellent players and will give Inter determination and strength. I am happy that you have chosen Inter.
“Eriksen comes from Tottenham, a wonderful team, and Young was a symbol of Manchester United. Inter made two big purchases. “
Conte’s team is currently waiting to find out if the Serie A competition can resume amid the coronavirus pandemic, with Inter’s incoming blockade in third place in the table: nine points adrift from Juventus leaders. with 13 games to play.
