An unemployed 65-year-old mother allegedly assaulted a police officer in Ashaiman over a misunderstanding.
The prosecutor in the case, ASP Akwasi Afrifa, said that on October 29, 2020, at around 5:30 a.m., the complainant, LCpl Eugene Seyram Dzakpasu, was discharged from the district to keep calm before an expected visit from the President Nana Akufo-Addo. .
He said that in the line of duty, LCpl Dzakpasu met with suspects Seth Adimeh, 31, and Robert Kwakumey, 37, arguing with a police passenger and tried to solve the problem.
Days later, LCpl Dzakpasu was allegedly confronted by the suspects and his mother, who allegedly slapped him with a menstrual cloth (amonsie).
The 37-year-old uniformed man was unable to retaliate because he was dominated by the suspects.
The case has been transferred to the Ashaiman Circuit Court.
ASP Afrifa advised the public not to take justice into their own hands and to avoid attacking police officers and other law enforcement officers.
