The secretary-general of the Democratic National Congress has asked the New Patriotic Party to worry about choosing a standard-bearer for the December polls and to stop worrying about when his party will name a candidate to be partner John Mahama.

In fact, the PNP has yet to endorse President Akufo-Addo as the party’s standard-bearer, as he was the only candidate chosen and submitted a nomination for the party’s presidential primary that was originally set for April 15, but was suspended due to to covid-19.
For the NDC Secretary General, the push for Mahama to name his running mate “is just a creation of the government and the nuclear power plant to divert [attention] of burning problems. “
According to him, the NDC is better placed in terms of preparedness than the PNP, which has a standard-bearer to select, as well as some 160 parliamentary candidates, saying “at least we are almost done with our parliamentary candidates.”
“If they insist that they have a standard bearer, then whatever they are scheduled to do by selecting a standard bearer is a sham. They should not be misleading their party members if they think they have a standard-bearer, “he said.
Meanwhile, Asiedu Nketia has said that career partners are a secondary problem because those people only associate with the presidential candidate and do not carry the weight of the candidate they associate with.
“The presidential elections in Ghana are called presidential because you focus on choosing a president, so the presidential candidate is someone who will simply support the president. I don’t think the weight of a running mate should be more important than the presidential candidate, “he argued.
