“His Excellency the Wise and Brave Former President” – Amidu Addresses Mahama on Mocking ‘Stupidity’
Special Counsel Martin Amidu has challenged former President John Mahama to voluntarily submit to the Office of the Special Counsel for questioning about the Airbus bribery scandal.
It will be recalled that Amidu had indicated in a previous statement that “the only reason why the former president [Mahama] he has not been invited for questioning (despite all the threats from some of his supporters and lawyers) is the fact that he got insurance as a presidential candidate for the other major political party in Ghana. “
He also argued that “prudence dictated that the interrogation be kept on hold during this election season.”
However, Mr. Mahama disagreed with the statement of the Special Prosecutor because it was made in the corruption risk assessment in the Agyapa Minerals royalty agreement. The NDC presidential candidate also described the Special Prosecutor (SP) as a “coward” for mentioning him in the corruption risk assessment report.

In response to Mahama’s comment contained in a statement issued on Monday, November 9, 2020, Amidu advised the presidential candidate to arm himself with two lawyers and come forward for questioning. by the OSP.
“His Excellency, the wise and courageous former President John Dramani Mahama, tall man, wise and brave enough to come with two attorneys of his choice to be warned and questioned by this Office to demonstrate his courage and wisdom as not to be elected an Official of the Government 1 and also how not to be the first guarantor of Samuel Adam Mahama’s passport application ”, says the statement.
The Special Prosecutor also defended his team’s decision to postpone the investigation, saying it is in the interest of national security.
“The long public service of the Special Prosecutor covering various aspects of security and intelligence from the period from 1982 to January 7, 2001 and from July 2009 to January 2012 gives him more experience to determine when it is not conducive to the interests of national security recklessly taking certain public order actions. The Special Prosecutor owes this exercise of discretion to his vast experience over the years, his responsibility to maintain national stability and his conscience as Ghana’s patriotic anti-corruption crusader. “
He added: “It’s not about stupidity or cowardice about it. Anyone who aspires to be president of Ghana for a second term who does not know that a cardinal principle in security and intelligence is that “precaution is the best part of courage” was not worth or deserves the vote.
