Deschamps questions Pogba United’s happiness
France coach Didier Deschamps has suggested that Paul Pogba is not happy at Manchester United.
Pogba has had a rocky start to the season with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team, moving in and out of the team after the start of his campaign was hit by a coronavirus outbreak.
The United midfielder was recently benched by Solskjaer, with Fred, Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes as United’s starting midfielder as it stands.
Pogba will now join the French team for the next matches against Finland, Portugal and Sweden, the latter two in the UEFA Nations League. Deschamps, the coach with whom Pogba helped France win the 2018 World Cup, was asked at a press conference about the 27-year-old club’s situation.
“Paul, I know him well and he knows the group well. He is in a situation with his club where he cannot be happy, neither with his playing time, nor with his positioning.
“He is not in his prime, he has had a series of injuries and the Covid-19 that has hit him quite hard. You need to find your rhythm.
“The game he had to play last month was good and consistent despite the lack of pace. However, we cannot say that he is accomplished in what he does at his club.
“For me, there is no such concern, but I try to handle it as well. When a player feels uncomfortable at his club, he is obviously happy to play for the France team.
