Work is constantly progressing at the cassava processing factory under construction for Keta in Tsiame-Dorveme.

The factory, which is a partnership between the Keta Municipal Assembly and the investment firm Hormeku Engineers and Planners (HoPE) Ltd, would be the first of the government’s flagship project, One-District, One-Factory (1D1F) for the municipality.

A site visit showed construction materials, including piles of sand and pillars crossed with the factory base, which are expected to process cassava into industrial cassava flour, cassava flour, dried cassava chips, ethanol, gari, atieke , cassava dough and animal feed. , almost done.

Godwin Edudzi Yao Effah, Keta Municipal Executive Director (MCE), told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the project had been delayed due to adjustments to the initial plan.

He said the factory, which was 40 percent complete because machinery had already been manufactured for the facility, would be one of the largest 1D1F projects in the Volta region.

Effah said that the plant would have the capacity to process around 35 tons of fresh cassava per day and would provide direct and indirect jobs for people, therefore, he pleaded with municipality residents and neighbors to participate in serious cassava production. to keep the plant running. completion for next month.

Currently, the site has three-phase power and a mechanized well connection, with a cassava plantation of approximately 65 acres.

Hormeku Engineers and Planners Ltd, which manufactures food processing equipment, agricultural machinery and general metal work, was founded in 1971 and incorporated as a limited liability company in 1986.
