Hakim Ziyech has been delighted with his start at Stamford Bridge as the new Chelsea kid revealed that he is developing a strong understanding with his teammates.

The Moroccan star was sidelined in the opening weeks of the 2020-21 campaign, with a knee problem that prevented Chelsea manager Frank Lampard from selecting the former Ajax forward.

However, since regaining physical form and earning his place on the team, Ziyech has adapted to life in English football with ease. The 27-year-old has turned heads with creative displays and provided two assists in a 4-1 win over Sheffield United.

The Blues were left behind early in the game thanks to a David McGoldrick goal, but they responded well and could have added more to the scoreboard thanks to too many chances.

Ziyech said his new team responded well to the initial setback and that his understanding of how the team plays is improving game by game.

‘We played a good game, the first 10 minutes were a bit difficult [and] We started out careless but later we controlled the game. We played well again, ‘he told Sky Sports.

‘They like it when you play the ball on your feet. I saw [Mateo] Kovacic running in space [for the first goal] and sometimes you have to give those balls and [the defence] I do not know what to do.

‘I always look at the [runs] Before drinking [set-pieces]. Sometimes all you need is eye contact.

“I feel comfortable in the team, with the squad and with the teammates.”

Chelsea have moved up to third place in the Premier League after the victory over the Blades, and are in good shape heading into the international break.

Lampard’s team has toughened things up defensively, conceding just one goal in their last four games, while their new attack is conceding, scoring 14 goals in as many games.
