For millions of Americans, today is a good day.

Four days after the election, all the major news networks have finally declared a winner, and it is Joe Biden.

Projections show that Biden won the popular vote and the electoral college thanks to his change of key states, and he did so with the highest number of votes of any president in the history of the United States.

As the reality that Trump will no longer be president in three months’ time hit American citizens, a wave of emotion seemed to wash over the country.

While Biden wasn’t the first choice for those on the more liberal end of the Democratic spectrum, people still thought he was cause for celebration.

And it’s not just on social media, parties and celebrations are taking over the streets of major cities in the United States.

Even outside the White House.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:

San Fracisco, California:

And Chicago, Illinois, among others:

Miley Cyrus’s 2009 hit ‘Party in the USA’ is having a great time.

Even Fox News couldn’t ignore the huge amount of support for Biden’s victory.

While most people could be seen wearing masks and many appeared to be observing social distancing rules, that was not the case for all celebrations.

People were quick to remind the jubilant crowd that Covid-19 is still out there, and more people than ever test positive for the virus: On Friday, infections surpassed the previous high of 125,000 per day.

Of course, enjoy the moment, but be safe, friends!
