Donald Trump, President of the United StatesDonald Trump, President of the United States

The current United States of America general election in progress has just taught me and many other critical thinkers that America is not that good considering what we have witnessed over the past three days.

On November 4, 2020, Americans went to the polls to elect a new president for the country, and the main contest is between Joe Biden, who represents the Democrats, and Donald Trump, the current president who represents the Republicans.

A country like the United States, which is seen by almost everyone as the most powerful country in the world, is struggling to count the ballots after the vote. The president, Donald Trump, laments and complains about electoral fraud. He has accused Democrats of trying to rig the elections.

He made various accusations on his social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook saying that illegal votes are being counted while legal votes are not being counted. He has been threatening to go to the Supreme Court to demand fairness and justice.

If it weren’t for social media and President Trump’s temper tantrums, I wouldn’t have known that the United States also faces problems like this during its elections. I was thinking that their electoral system is perfect and that they have overcome such insignificant problems that many African countries still face in almost every election year.

The Americans, with their technology and their level of exposure, should already have a much more sophisticated electoral system in which everyone believes in the system and follows it. But from what I’ve read on President Trump’s Facebook page, it shows that all is not well and what we went through as Africans during the elections is not that different from what Americans go through as well. Perhaps they are just good at hiding their challenges from us.

Seriously, I didn’t even know they were queuing to vote too. I thought that at your level everyone votes in the comfort of their homes using the electronic voting system. I have also seen some videos circulating on social media suggesting that President Trump shared or gave food to some of the voters.

In all of this, I’m beginning to think that Americans are very good at identifying themselves as the best. Because they have called themselves the most powerful and sophisticated country in the world, and almost everyone believed in the idea. They show us only the great things about America and hide from us what is not so great or what is a disaster.

Thanks to President Donald Trump who doesn’t really care about America’s public image or greatness, thus exposing the weaknesses of the American system. Voter fraud is common in Africa, and Africans look up to the United States for solving or managing some of these problems during elections in Africa.

But, if the United States faces similar problems and uses the coronavirus as an excuse, why should we keep looking at them? It means that your electoral system is not yet perfect and needs to be improved or improved to a level where no one can easily manipulate the elections or suspect that it is manipulation, either during or after the vote counting.

In Ghana, whenever we go to the polls to elect a new president, many times, if not sometimes, it takes two to three days before a winner is finally declared, after going through a tedious process, because our The electoral system still faces great challenges and has not reached the level of much sophistication, as we always queue to vote from morning to night. And this is exactly the challenge the United States faces. Three days have passed and the vote count is still underway; too bad for a country like the United States.

I mean they have all led us to believe that they have a perfect system in almost everything, but President Trump has exposed the weaknesses in his electoral system. I like the Democrats in America because of their socialist orientation or background. I will be happy if Joe Biden finally wins the election, but I will not be sad if President Trump is re-elected, because I know that he will continue to expose America’s weaknesses to the world and everyone will know that America is not as good as the average American or the leaders. of the United States want us to believe.

President Trump lacks leadership traits. I like his guts and simplicity, but I don’t like his statements or his racist character. He’s too pompous and too arrogant. I don’t understand why some Christians think he’s a great leader and want him re-elected when his speeches are mostly relaxed.

You may loathe abortion and other things the Bible preaches against, but we know you are just playing smart with people. How can you condemn abortion as bad, but endorse racism as good? That is utter hypocrisy and critical thinkers know it and will not be fooled.

From what I have learned so far, from this year’s US general election, there is hope for Africa if we can only take the bull by the horn and begin to correct our mistakes. We need to score well, as the Americans have done.

We don’t need to wash our dirty clothes in public. Our leaders must stop enriching themselves with corruption and create a system where indiscipline in any form will not be tolerated in the country. We have the laws, we are going to implement them. Our constitution has given too much power to the executive, we are going to amend it and do things the right way.

I have come to realize that we can never really change our bad behavior as people unless a good system is created to force ourselves to behave well. If we are serious as a people, we will catch up with the United States and other so-called advanced countries on almost everything.
