Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists he still has the full backing of the Manchester United board.
The United manager is under intense scrutiny after a poor start to the season was followed by a Champions League loss to Basaksehir in Istanbul midweek.
But Solskjaer says he doesn’t feel pressured ahead of Saturday’s trip to Everton and still has the support of his employers.
“I have always had an honest and open dialogue with the club,” he said. “They have shown strong leadership and good dialogue since I arrived. It’s sunny in Manchester today and I don’t expect the wind to change.
‘There is always pressure and expectation. I grew up here and became a man at Man United. I learned to deal with the good times and the bad. You are a top coach or manager when you win and a bad one when you lose.
“If I don’t trust my beliefs and values, and the quality of the staff and the players… of course I don’t look at one or two results and I fall like a house of cards.
“The club has been very positive and has shown me character and strong leadership. I’m looking forward to Saturday lunchtime.
‘I’m fine. You don’t have to be happy to stay positive. You know that in difficult days or difficult days better ones will come. I know these players well enough that we have an answer.
‘You have to be mentally strong. There are demands for the players and the United manager, there are also expectations because we are in the best and biggest club in the world.
‘You don’t expect anything but criticism, it’s how you deal with setbacks and from what I’ve seen from the players, they have been very focused.
‘We had a very long and late flight home [from Turkey]. The first day was a day of tired minds, heads and legs, and we couldn’t do much. Today has been a brilliant day and the guys are ready for a reaction.
We are all hurt. It’s never easy when you lose two games on the rebound, but that’s football and you have to react.
‘The Champions League is difficult, but the form of the goals, we give them those goals. You don’t care when they get over you.
There have definitely been setbacks. But there has been too much talk about not scoring against Arsenal and Chelsea.
“Not long ago we were the best since sliced bread when we beat Leipzig and PSG. That’s the way it is in football, and you have to have faith in yourself and in the players ”.
