‘Horrible’ – Dimitar Berbatov hits Manchester United defense after latest mistake

[ad_1]

Dimitar Berbatov crashed into Manchester United’s defense following the Reds’ 2-1 loss to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team lost their second straight game Wednesday by feeling 2-0 behind in 40 minutes.

Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba opened the scoring for Basaksehir in the 13th minute, following a United corner kick in which Solskjaer’s side had no one behind to mark the Senegalese forward, who ran past Dean Henderson .

Things took a turn for the worse for United 27 minutes later, when Edin Visca took advantage of a poorer defense from the visitors.

Despite Anthony Martial netting a goal for the visiting team just three minutes after Visca’s goal, United had only one shot on goal after their only goal of the game.

Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov said: “The performance of the Manchester United players last night was not what it should be, it was very bad. I never really know what to say about these performances, because there is no explanation.

“One week, 5-0 Leipzig, brilliant, next week, this. It doesn’t make sense. That’s why last week I said we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves, and why consistency is so important.

“Especially the first goal, I can’t even describe how bad it was. Demba Ba is not Usain Bolt, and they still couldn’t catch him. It was horrible to watch.

“Simple things like positioning and knowing who’s back and who’s not, players should know this. I’ve seen these guys more than once without covering each other, simple things.

Manchester United have approached Mauricio Pochettino with a view to replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the club’s next manager.

The MEN understands that United has contacted Pochettino’s representatives amid the team’s terrible form with Solskjaer. The MEN reported last December that Pochettino wants to take over as United manager and is not believed to have changed his stance on the role.

“They are not one-off events and they have impressed me. It was amazing to see how they left Demba Ba alone in that position, and the quality that United has, it’s terrible that they did it.”

“I don’t know who made the pass to Ba, but he never had an easier pass, or Ba an easier goal in their lives.

“It was a mistake you’d see in child’s play. I could use stronger words to describe how bad this is, but everyone already knows it.”
