Eleven school teachers have been released in Cameroon after Presbyterian pastors and their followers held daily protests at the camp where they were held captive by a separatist group, the Rev. Fonki Samuel Foba told the BBC.
The teachers were abducted on November 3 from the Presbyterian primary and secondary school in the mainly English-speaking northwestern town of Kumbo.
The cleric said no ransom was paid for the teachers’ release.
Anglophone separatists have been demanding an independent state, saying they don’t want to be part of Francophone Cameroon, sparking a conflict that has claimed many lives.
