Police Inspector General James Oppong-Boanuh has outlined the measures law enforcement agencies are implementing to ensure violence-free elections this year.

Mr. Oppong-Boanuh noted that the deployment will consist of personnel at polling stations and centers to assist presidents, mobile patrols and proactively deploying forces to address volatile law and order situations and other emergencies, adding that some of the personnel from security will be on hold.

“Mr. President, we intend to print what we call a memory aid. That is the best practice in the modern world for officers in operations like this,” he said.

He hinted that the memoirs, which serve as a reference, will contain “the dos and don’ts for security officers who will be deployed so that when in doubt, they can take the paper out of their pockets and look at it to freshen up.” his memory. “

He reiterated the preparation of the Police, adding that “we are not sitting around and waiting for election day to come and then we arrive and we don’t know what to do. As a result, therefore, we have had a little training.” and capacity building for our officers.

“For example, we have had high-risk and confidence-building operations for regional operational teams for our special weapons and tactics and rapid deployment forces. We have also received counter-terrorism and emergency operations training for our counter-terrorism unit. That’s for the police … “

He continued: “Mr. President, we have also had a nationwide training in the investigation and prosecution of electoral crimes for all our officers and we did this in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office and the Judicial Service.”

He also said that to equip the security agencies, officers from the various security agencies took a course on Electoral Security and Violence at the Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC).
