The wife of the late Mfantseman Member of Parliament (MP), Ms Ophelia Hayford, has mustered the collective support of voters to keep the seat.

She said that winning the parliamentary seat was the surest way to uphold the remarkable legacy of her late husband and the Party to bring development to all voters.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Ghana Education Service Training Center in Saltpond, Ms. Hayford said that the facility represented her late husband’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of education in the township.

Kwansa Hayford was shot by people believed to be highway robbers in the early hours of October 9, 2020, on the Abeadze Dominase – AbeadzeDuadzi – Mankessim road on his way from a campaign trip.

“I am very grateful to NPP for the trust placed in me,” she said, adding that “God knows why that despicable act happened to my husband. God will open a way for me in the December elections.”

Ms. Hayford, Assistant Superintendent of Police, resigned from police service following the murder of her husband.

He promised to increase the margin of votes in the presidential and parliamentary elections with the unconditional support of all.

In an all-black outfit, the confident-looking candidate received thunderous applause and cheers from party supporters, who filled the venue in solidarity and support for her political candidacy.

The emotionally charged PNP candidate sang uplifting songs to remind her political opponents that she was up to the task.

Mr. Kwamena Duncan, the Minister of the Central Region, expressed the Party’s willingness to do everything possible to retain the PNP seat to reflect the Party’s political dominance.
