The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has challenged his successor, President Akufo-Addo, to show that the ruling New Patriotic Party put an end to the crisis of power in the country.
Addressing the people of the Adentan constituency as part of his tour of the Greater Accra region, Mr. Mahama said that his government ensured that power outages popularly known as ‘dumsor’ were addressed before the government de Akufo-Addo took office.
“I tell you, I resolved to dumsor before leaving power. But if the nuclear power plant says they did, then they should show us only one power plant that they acquired in addition to what we [NDC] he did ”, he emphasized.
Since 2018, the sitting government has praised itself for ending the energy crisis ‘finally’.
Presenting the mid-year budget review to Parliament on Thursday, July 23, 2020, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta said that the burden reduction in the country has stabilized.
“It is clear to our fellow Ghanaians that we have enjoyed three and a half years of reliable and cheaper energy,” he said.
However, former President Mahama is of the opinion that the incumbent government wants to keep the glory for political points and fool Ghanaians before the next election.
He urged Adentan voters to oust the Akufo-Addo government in the December 7 elections.
