The leadership of the Ghana Police Service says it has identified 6,178 flash points before the next election.

As a result of this, said Police Inspector General James Oppong Boanuh, the Police Service has prepared and taken efficient measures to be able to patrol these areas and guarantee a free, fair and transparent electoral process.

Addressing journalists at a press conference on Wednesday, November 4 and 20, 2020, the IGP said:

“We have identified 6,178 sources of inflammation nationwide. Our approach in these areas will be slightly different than what we will do in others. The patrols will be visible to avoid any mishap.”

The IGP also added that the service will operate Joint Operations Centers on election day.

This, he explained, will prevent misinformation and election-related violence in upcoming elections.

“On election day we will operate joint operations centers that will have monitoring teams. We will also continue to involve the media in our electoral process, until the process itself is finished,” he added.
