The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Dr. Clement Apaak, attacked Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, saying he is complicit in the agyapa royalty deal riot.

He said that even though the minority raised serious concerns about fraud and how bleak the process to approve the deal was, the majority led by their leader went ahead to pass it.

Therefore, you have asked the majority leader to accept responsibility for the outcome of the agreement because his side rushed in and approved the agreement without doing due diligence.

“He and his majority side sought, justified, defended and voted to pass the stinking and corrupt Agyapa accord despite all our protests.”

The deputy has also demanded the recovery of all the resources that have already entered the “stinking” agreement.

“Shouldn’t the millions of dollars spent on this blatant attempt to cheat, rob the Ghanaians, by NADAA and its nuclear power plant, using the Agyapa deal as a conduit, and properly punish those responsible? Who are the beneficiaries of this money? “

Meanwhile, the Majority Leader has said that lawmakers need to improve the way they do business in the House.

He thought that this would cure some of the challenges that come with passing and passing some laws and agreements.

His comments come after the corruption risk assessment report on the Agyapa deal was published and described as a deal that was passed without recourse to the law.

The special counsel said the deal was riddled with nepotism, cronyism and favoritism.

“The Special Prosecutor in a letter with the reference number OSP / SCR / 12/20/20 dated October 16, 2020 transmitted the conclusions and observations of the anti-corruption evaluation to HE the President and to H.E. Minister of Finance as a matter of courtesy before informing the public. “

“Two weeks is more than too long for this Office to continue withholding the announcement of the completion of its sixty-four (64) page report to the public. It is important that this Office be free to fulfill its anti-corruption mandate and keep the public informed. Therefore, I have decided to bring the facts of the conclusion of the anti-corruption assessment of the Agyapa Royalty Transactions by this Office to the public’s attention and avoid continued speculation on this matter, ”he said.

Speaking in an interview with journalists on this matter on Tuesday, November 3, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu opined: “I don’t know the contents of the bag that reaches us. If we access it and believe that we can work with it, then we apply ourselves to it.

“We already have a difficult task to process to carry out transactions. If we add to it and believe that it is possible, so be it. I don’t know what it entails, so I can’t make a definitive statement on it. “

“There is nowhere in the world where Parliament is beyond reproach, especially given our own circumstances, when we do not have experts to consult independently with their input.

“And we must be prepared to improve that in order to improve the quality of our own positions on the issues. We are not all experts. It is important that we hire consultants and we do not take for granted what comes from the government. Therefore, we must work to improve the conduct of business in the Chamber.

“That one, yes, I agree, but someone say we didn’t do a good job because we had four hours, that’s not true.”

But Dr. Apaak wants him to accept responsibility because he is an accomplice, as his side threw caution to the wind and hastened the deal approval process.

Read their statement below

Friends, the majority in parliament are complicit in the stinking Agyapa scandal. We, the Minority, opposed this agreement from the beginning. We said the deal was shady, fraudulent and not designed to benefit Ghanaians. We went out and never participated in the vote to pass it in Parliament.

Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu should assume his role as majority leader and leader of government business in the House; He led the rushed process to approve the deal. He and his majority side probed, justified, defended, and voted to pass the stinking and corrupt Agyapa accord despite all of our protests.

Shouldn’t the millions of dollars spent on this blatant attempt to cheat, rob Ghanaians, by NADAA and its PNP, using the Agyapa deal as a conduit, be recovered and those responsible duly punished? Who are the beneficiaries of these monies?

By the way, the MoF actually designated the Agyapa deal as an “Innovative Financing Solution”. Well now it is very clear that this is more of an “innovative robbery strategy”

I’m still a citizen!
