Real Madrid almost ruined the game, but Rodrygo Goes’ goal from the bench ensured that Zinedine Zidane’s side took all three points against Inter Milan.
Coming into Wednesday’s game, Real Madrid knew they needed to win against Inter Milan, the other big club in their Champions League group. The Whites lost to Shakhtar Donetsk and drew with Borussia Monchengladbach, so winning, not just drawing, against Inter without Romelu Lukaku was imperative.
After jumping to a 2-0 lead in a great first half, Real Madrid were lucky to remain 2-2 when they failed in the second half. But in the end, they got their victory, courtesy of young substitutes Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes connecting in the 80th minute to make it 3-2.

RW Rodrygo goes
Rodrygo Goes only played for about 30 minutes, but the man with two late assists in La Liga occurred to him once again. But this time he did it as a scorer.
Real Madrid needed to trade Marco Asensio after he did practically nothing for an entire hour. So they brought Rodrygo along with Vinicius Junior, who replaced Eden Hazard as a precaution.
Rodrygo’s goal was a beautiful shot just when Real needed a moment of magic from their young star. He scored many goals for Los Blancos in last year’s Champions League campaign, and is finally out of place in 2020-2021.

Sometimes all you need to do is be in the right place at the right time and ready to provide the right finish. Rodrygo did all that. It is amazing to think that he is still 19 years old. Which player will become the Merengues.
CM Fede Valverde
Fede Valverde was huge in the first half. He didn’t add to his goal tally in this game, but he had five interceptions, according to WhoScored.com, to tie Ferland Mendy for second on the team.
The young Uruguayan was always running and pressing, which counts a lot in a game like this against players like Arturo Vidal.
A team of Antonio Conte will always try to outdo you in midfield, but no one surpasses Valverde.
He would have liked to score Tuesday night in the Champions League, but he was still a key piece of victory.
LW Eden Hazard
Sergio Ramos deserves recognition, but let’s go with another attacking player in Eden Hazard. He left the game in the 63rd minute after limping, but was the best attacking player on the field for both teams in the first half of the match.
Hazard’s work led to the corner Sergio Ramos dispatched for his 100th goal of his career in a white uniform. The seasoned Belgian superstar was always trying to make something happen with the ball and was by far Real’s best decision maker in the attacking third.

On a night when Karim Benzema was up and down and Asensio did nothing remarkable, Hazard’s dribbling and dominance of the left wing were much more important. Hopefully he’s 100 percent after that brief scare, because Real Madrid absolutely need him to be successful this season.
