The standard-bearer of the opposition Democratic National Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has vowed to be a better president if he is reelected in the upcoming December elections.
According to him, having the opportunity to be president and stay away in recent years has given him the opportunity to rethink strategies and correct some of the mistakes he made while in office.
“Ghanaians should choose John Mahama because he is a person who can be trusted. What you see is what you get. I have the track record and I believe that having been president before, I will be a better president in my second term, ”Mahama said in an interview on Starr FM on Tuesday.
He added: “A great regret I have is not speaking directly to people during my time in office and that void was filled with a lot of propaganda. So this time when he comes, I will turn around and speak directly to people about what we are doing and some of our policies. “
The former president also stated that he is cautiously optimistic that the NDC can win the December elections and is committed to peaceful and violence-free elections.
Meanwhile, Mahama has asked President Akufo-Addo to order the complete withdrawal of the Agyapa royalty deal and to remove Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta.
According to the former president, the damning report of the special prosecutor does not bode well for the finance minister and damages the reputation of his government if he does not relieve him of his post.
“[The report] It is not surprising, the minority said it, 13 CSOs said it and therefore it is not surprising that the Special Prosecutor’s Office said it. The issue of value for money were issues that came up … but the Special Prosecutor stepped in and raised the issues … the issue is not to return it to parliament, it should be withdrawn entirely.
“The president must be even, in terms of the CHRAJ report on the head of the PPA [that led to his sacking]…but [Akufo-Addo] He has been silent on that front but that is where nepotism kicks him in because we all know that the Minister of Finance is his cousin ”.
