Information Deputy Minister Pius Enam Hadzide described as a “dangerous precedent” the decision of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to suspend its president of the North Ayawaso constituency, Ahmed Tahiru, for reporting his national vice president to the police.
The suspension follows Tahiru’s claim that NDC National Vice President Alhaji Said Sinare supplied some youths with military grade weapons to cause chaos in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Tahiru reported the matter to the police and handed over two pistols, an AK-47 and a pump pistol that Alhaji Sinare allegedly gave to cause mayhem.
The Accra Region Police command is investigating the matter after inviting Alhaji Sinare to help with the investigations.
Commenting on the issue on Okay FM’s morning show Ade Akye Abia, Enam Hadzide viewed the decision as a major indictment against the main opposition.
He explained that the NDC’s decision to suspend the president of the Ayawaso Norte constituency creates a certain impression that the party supports Alhaji Said Sinare’s conduct even before the police conclude their investigations.
He stressed that the NDC is painting in the minds of Ghanaians by its decision to indefinitely suspend its president of the North Ayawaso constituency that its members have no right to report one of their own to the police for conspiring to commit a crime against the state.
“So, if you are in a political party and you see that someone is committing a crime, in the NDC’s mind, because you are in the same party, the person must condone or cover up whoever intends to commit the crime. crime against the state.
“… If you see that a great party man has stolen from the state, according to the NDC’s reasoning now, if you are a party member, you have no right to report the case to the police; you have to cover up or keep quiet about the case. This is a dangerous precedence that the NDC has established in the party, ”he observed.
