The 2020 independent presidential candidate has strongly opposed the legalization of Okada in Ghana.
Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker has vehemently pledged to oppose the determination of former NDC president and presidential candidate John Mahama to legalize motorcycle operations (Okada) should he be victorious in the next general election.
The lead consultant and contributor to the Dublin Ireland operations and the West Africa Infrastructure Development Group revealed this on Sunday 1 November when he addressed the people of Ashaiman during his campaign tour of the area.
Asiedu Walker is concerned about the serious deformity-causing accidents associated with Okada’s operations and their apparent health implications.
He believes that the legalization of Okada in Ghana would cause more damage and havoc than the potential job opportunities that people think it could create for young people.
“Yes, I am against the legalization of Okada in no uncertain terms, look, before passing a law, you must first do a feasibility study to know its positive and negative effects.
“I think that the health of these people who are on the road with motorcycle fumes is probably going to cause long-term illnesses,” he added.
He censured past and current governments for failing to provide sustainable jobs instead of using it as a campaign message to win the mandate of the people.
Therefore, the only independent candidate in the December 7 elections has urged Ghana’s electorate to reject and break the duopoly of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (PNP) by voting for him as president to restore the lost hope of the country.
