Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has blamed a lack of focus and focus for his side’s lackluster Premier League loss at home to Arsenal on Sunday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s penalty in the 69th minute extended United’s dismal start to the season at home as they failed to capitalize on their 5-0 Champions League win over Leipzig midweek.

Frustrated, Maguire told Sky Sports: ‘It’s hard to point out. It’s disappointing for us, we didn’t start the game well.

“We gave away the ball too much in the first half. It was a cautious game of few chances.

‘They had one or two more than us. We needed to create more.

“ It worked very well in the middle of the week … we were confident to get in, but it was important to start well and we didn’t. It is not good enough.

We cannot find excuses. We were not in it, the concentration was not there with clean passes.

Maybe we were patting each other on the back, which shouldn’t happen.

I keep saying you have to keep your sanity.

United were hoping their league form would follow suit after beating RB Leipzig and keeping a clean sheet at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

They are ranked 15th after failing to win any of their first four home games in the league for the first time since 1972 and extending their winless home run to six games.

Their only two goals against visiting teams came in a terrible 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace in their opening game and an impressive 6-1 beating by Tottenham last month.

Maguire said: ‘It’s not a concern. It’s disappointing.

“We have not won at Old Trafford this year. We want the teams to have a hard time when they come here.

‘Something has to change. Today was not good enough. There’s something not clicking right now at home. ‘

United are next at home in the league when they host promoted West Brom on November 21.

That means almost five months will have passed since their last league win at Old Trafford, when they beat the doomed Bournemouth 5-2 on July 4.

They will face Manchester City in the derby on 12 December before ending the year with visits from Leeds and Wolves.
