Education Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh has revealed that Ghana ranks second in the world in countries that have simplified living conditions for teachers.
Speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s ” Kokrokoo ”, H.E. Opoku Prempeh, also called Napo, revealed that a worldwide survey called “Global Status of Teachers” was conducted among 35 countries and Ghana ranked higher.
This achievement, he said, is due to the great initiatives of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government for teachers.
He said that President Akufo-Addo, with a good heart for teachers, introduced a program called “ Untrained Teachers to Obtain a Basic Education Diploma ” (UTDBE) to retrain untrained pupils and teachers, he raised the status of A-Certificate teachers, paid teacher-apprenticeship distributions and also transformed the training school into a school of education among other good works aimed at improving the lives of teachers.
Napo noted that Ghana’s second ranking on the world map is due to these initiatives and many more that the Akufo-Addo administration has established.
“Ghana ranks second in the world after China in global teacher status”, he said.
