Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar will make signing a new contract with the French club his priority and will not try to return to Barcelona.

The Brazilian moved from the Camp Nou to the French capital in 2017 for a world record fee of £ 198 million.

And after constant ties and talking about a potential return to the LaLiga giants, Neymar is only focused on signing a new five-year contract with PSG, according to Foot Mercato.

Neymar has less than two years left on his current contract with the Ligue 1 champions, which will expire in 2022.

The club will want to reach an agreement with him sooner rather than later, as the closer to the end of his contract, the more likely it is that he will start talking and gaining interest from other clubs.

Reports suggest that Neymar has already told Parisian management that he wants to extend his contract at the club, despite his earlier desire to return to Barcelona.

He told the PSG staff during the quarter-final phase of the Champions League last year in Lisbon.

The 28-year-old told PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he wants to sign a five-year contract under the same financial agreement, which allows him to earn £ 32.4 million a year.

The club and the player have now started talks without concrete progress, as the French team still hopes to convince Kylian Mbappé to stay at the club, whose contract also expires in 2022.

Neymar was recently out of the game until the end of November after sustaining an injury in PSG’s 2-0 win over Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League.
