Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims that Manchester United have a team to execute any tactical plan.

The Old Trafford manager acknowledges that he now has more options on the field than at any time since taking over from José Mourinho in December 2018.

United face Arsenal today looking to continue their four-game unbeaten streak after crushing Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig 5-0 in the Champions League.

That followed immediately after a win in France against Paris Saint Germain with United’s tactics back on the spot.

And Solskjaer admits that he revels in the luxury of having an all-season team after trying a new system with Donny van der Beek at the head of a diamond, cutting Leipzig to pieces.

“I think last season we put a lot of work into our principles and the way we want to play, and we had a base to play with two central midfielders. This season we have added quality to the squad with Edinson Cavani, Donny and Alex Telles, ”says Solskjaer.

“Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford are fit now, so we have more options and we have more tactical options.

“If we want to play a 4-3-3, a diamond, a 3-4-3 or a 3-5-2, I think we have more options than ever.”

Critics have suggested that Pogba and Bruno Fernandes cannot operate effectively on the same team, but Solskjaer insists there is no problem.

“Good players can always play together if there is balance in the team,” he said.

“You can’t play together against the top 10 forwards on the team. Of course, you need balance and that is what we are working to find. “

United were punished for failing to hit the number one goal, Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, in the last transfer window.

But Solskjaer is happy with his new signings, which have given the squad a competitive boost.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have missed Jadon Sancho in the summer, but he still made some big moves in the transfer market with Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani arriving.

But their start to the season has been mixed, with a loss at home to Crystal Palace and a 6-1 win by Spurs at one end of the scale, and a tremendous 2-1 win over PSG in Paris in the other.

The question now is whether they can find the right balance.

“I think we signed well, I am very happy with the signings we have made, I think they have all made an impact,” says the United manager.

“They are players we have been targeting for a while and I am happy with them.

“You want competition for places and you want the players to know that there is someone who can take my place.

“And you want players who can cope with that pressure, which you have to do if you are part of Man United. Alex Telles played very well in Paris and I think Luke Shaw has also played very well the last few games, that’s the competition you want.

Solskjaer will celebrate two years in charge next month and his graying hair means the baby-faced killer tag he once had as a gamer is gone. And as he grapples with restoring United to their former glory, the Norwegian revealed that he is turned off by watching the American comedy Seinfeld.

“I’m getting older but, no, I enjoy it. I have to say that I said to myself when I got the job ‘You have to enjoy every minute, the ups and downs’.

“It’s a challenge, of course, but if I didn’t enjoy it, I wouldn’t be here. You try to disconnect, you watch some TV series from time to time, but it’s almost 24/7, definitely.

“Right now I’m going through an old Seinfeld. I also have the new series, but I’m old school and I’m in season five right now and I’ve been through them in the last few months. “
