The work of the agents is essential for the growth of MoMo’s business in the country and, therefore, their safety, protection and well-being is important to us ”, he said.

Accordingly, he said that the telecommunications company had initiated a series of programs such as the agent award scheme and the donation of motorcycles, vehicles and kiosks to aid the work of MoMo agents.
“As the business progresses, MTN looks for ways to support its partners and that is why the insurance plan has been introduced to protect agents against unforeseen or unpredictable challenges,” he said.

Enterprise Life CEO (MD) Ms. Jacqueline Benyi said that the new insurance scheme is a historic milestone in the insurance industry.
“With this scheme, the financial burden of MoMo agents has been transferred to Enterprise Life.
This unique act in this period of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) is a true testament to the quality of the relationship between MTN and its partners, ”he said.
Welcome news
The secretary of the Mobile Money Defense Group, Ghana (MOMAG), Mr. Assem Eliah, stated that the introduction of the scheme was good news for agents in the MoMo space.
He noted that the mobile money business was risky and therefore the need to formulate and implement an insurance policy to protect merchants was crucial.
It added that the increase in armed robberies against merchants had frightened most of its members across the country, as there was no protection for their lives and operations.
