The National Democratic Party (NDP) has promised to extend maternity leave for all working-class women from three months to six months so that they have enough time to breastfeed their babies.
According to the NDP, the current arrangement does not give the mother enough time to breastfeed and bond with her babies in a comfortable way.
According to a report presented by JoyNews, this information is contained in a party manifesto yet to be published for the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Maternity leave for nursing mothers is three months in most institutions.
