President Akufo-Addo has rescinded the appointment of Adjenim Boateng Adjei as Executive Director of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) with immediate effect.

He has also been disqualified from holding public office for the next five years.

This follows a report submitted to the President by the Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Mr. Joseph Whittal, which concluded that “on the totality of the evidence, Mr. Adjenim Boateng Adjei had been put in a position in which his personal interests came into conflict with the performance of his duties as CEO and member of the board of directors of the PPA ”.

He also claimed that he abused his high position of trust.

It will be recalled that on August 22, 2019, President Akufo-Addo suspended Mr. Adjenim Boateng Adjei from his post, after the transmission of the complaints made against him in an investigative documentary made by Manasseh Azure Awuni, entitled “ Sales contracts ”.

In the documentary, Manasseh Azure Awuni revealed that a company jointly owned by Mr. Adjenim Boateng had sold the government contracts it won through restrictive single-source tendering to the highest bidder.

When suspending it, President Nana Akufo-Addo also ordered the CHRAJ and the Special Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the person designated by him for conflict of interest and corruption.

Having satisfied himself with the fact that the recommendation made by CHRAJ is duly motivated and well founded, the President has expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Joseph Whittal and CHRAJ for the thorough and methodical manner in which the matter has been addressed.
