Accra-based United Television (UTV) has suspended two of its political shows for the NPP and NDC.

A statement signed by the management of Pese a Media Group Limited, owners of UTV, said that the Nokw3R3 MMR3 from the NDC and AS3MPA Y3 TIA from the nuclear power plant have been suspended.

According to the statement, “this regrettable decision has been taken due to the numerous complaints and legal actions that the station has faced and the subsequent arrangements that it has reached that emanated from the broadcast of the programs.”

The statement indicated that UTV’s willingness to allow its political party to buy airtime and present its own programs on our channel was the result of the restrictions imposed by the president due to the covid-19 pandemic, which does not allow meetings and mass rallies “.

“Knowing full well that since we are at the peak of an election year, the programs would offer both parties the opportunity to reach a wider audience. Therefore, the aim of the agreed programs was to allow his team to spread the message of his campaign and the details of his manifesto to the general public so that Ghanaians could make informed decisions during the 2020 elections.

He added that “the show took a different turn when it aired. To protect our brand, avoid lawsuits, retractions and apologies, management has decided to suspend the programs until further notice. ”
