The campaign team of a former member of Parliament from the Zebilla East constituency in the Upper East region, Cletus Apul Avoka, has been attacked by armed robbers.
The attack, according to Avoka, who is seeking reelection, told Starr Midday News that the incident occurred Thursday night around 10:30 p.m. in Abuskologa as the team was returning from a tour of the Gore, Tetako polling stations. , Adagbera and Azuwera.
Narrating the incident, Avoka said that a forward team was stopped by some armed men in police uniforms at a checkpoint only to discover that the men were armed robbers and not policemen.
Avoka added that the thieves took the motorcycle of one of the team members, mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of money.
The former congressman escaped unharmed and has filed a complaint at the Zebilla police station.
This attack comes just weeks after Mfansteman constituency MP Quansah Hayford was attacked and shot to death during a campaign tour of the constituency.
