The Accra region police command is investigating the NDC’s national vice president, Alhaji Said Sinare, over allegations that he has distributed weapons to some people to cause chaos during the December elections.
Tahiru Ahmed, chairman of the opposition NDC’s Ayawaso North constituency, is reported to have told police that Alhaji Sinare supplied some youths with weapons to cause chaos in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Following this complaint, Alhaji Said has been invited to the Greater Accra Regional Police command to answer questions about the complaint.
Meanwhile, Mr. Said has written to the National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, to sanction Tahiru Ahmed, the president of the North Ayawaso constituency, for the claims.
Alhaji Said, in a letter seen by JoyNews and addressed to the national president of the NDC, said that this move by Mr. Tahiru is an act of disloyalty and a willingness to fight against the interests of the party.
“Mr. Ahmed has been my permanent employee for the past eight years until last year when his appointment was terminated, as I had enough suspicions that he is a mole in the ruling party.
“According to his accusations presented to the police and the AK 47 weapons produced, I handed over those weapons to him for use in the Northern Region during the national elections on December 7, 2020 to intimidate the voters of the PNP.
“This singular action initiated at this time confirms my suspicion that he was working against the interests of the party and is intended to discredit the name of the party and myself,” Alhaji Said said in the statement.
Alhaji Said Sinare is currently in the company of his lawyers Baba Jamal and Abraham Amaliba.
