The Concerned Voters Movement (CVM) has called on former President John Dramani Mahama to be more serious about issues of national concern during his campaigns.
According to the group, the campaign style and messages of the former president for the 2020 general elections have been full of humor and distortions.
“The Leadership of the Concerned Voters Movement (CVM) has taken the time to carefully read the manifesto document of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and is closely monitoring the comments of its Office of Communications, which indicated that the NDC under the leadership of John Mahama is not ready for the 2020 elections, ”said a statement signed by the group’s founder.
Razak Kojo Opoku in the statement further said that the group had observed that the NDC’s campaign messages, policy alternatives and strategies for the December 7, 2020 elections are “comedies that do not appeal to the masses.”
He added that the NDC may not achieve positive results in the next election if nothing is done about its campaigning, as well as the messages that are preached to the Ghanaian public.
The group has also expressed concern about the silence of the party’s big hairy men, including former President of the Republic Jerry John Rawlings, on the party’s campaign strategy.
“It appears that the NDC is campaigning for its second defeat and silence and a show of unconcern on the part of the wise men of the party, included; Former President Jerry John Rawlings is very disturbing.
The group also demanded the inclusion of NDC supporters who have played an important role in ensuring the victory of the party in the past in decision-making.
“Prof. Joshua Alabi, John Mahama’s 2020 Campaign Director, has been missing in action,” the group said.
They added that Mahama should speak to the public about how he intends to revive the economy in the post-Covid era.
“What matters most to Ghanaians is the comprehensive reconstruction of the Ghanaian economy after Covid-19 and not the morgue and okada policy proposed by Mr. Mahama.
“Those are not the solutions to rebuilding Ghana’s economy post Covid-19. Rebuilding Ghana’s economy is about strategic policies that will strengthen the Ghanaian economy, ”they added.
