I don’t think there is a problem between Benzema and Vinicius

On Wednesday morning, rumors began to circulate that Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema told Ferland Mendy not to pass the ball to Vinicius Junior in the second half of the Champions League. I do not think so.

Waking up this morning to an Instagram post from a friend, I was quite confused. “What do you think about this, Ben?” He had sent me a blurry photo of Karim Benzema and defender Ferland Mendy talking in the Borussia-Park tunnel on Tuesday night, shortly before the second half began.

With Los Blancos trailing by one goal and struggling to find their goal, manager Zinedine Zidane’s halftime talk was likely lively and direct.

According to Telefoot, Benzema was not discussing the coach’s halftime talk. Rather, the captured reports (on audio or lip reading? I’m not sure) tell Mendy: [Vinicius] he does what he wants. Don’t happen to him, bro. He’s playing against us. “

The footage aired on French sports television and fans quickly began to assume this audio was fact without further investigation.

Personally, I don’t think this was said for various reasons.

The first reason, and the most important, I think, is that Benzema has been Vini’s mentor.

Since his arrival from Brazil, Vinicius Junior has been a regular on the Real Madrid squad. Everyone can agree that the young winger struggles to fill the opportunities he creates and, aside from his flaws in the last third, is a phenomenal talent with a lot of potential.

Vini has worked closely with Benzema for over two years and the French striker has taken the player under his wing and supported him without fail. As ESPNFC rightly points out, Benzema has been seen coaching Vinicius on the field and the two have had what seems like a ‘bromance’ on social media.

Despite maybe a couple of small incidents during the course of a match, the two have never had a fight in training, an argument captured on camera, or anything indicating bad blood.

When viewing the tape, how was this determined to be the topic of discussion?

I have no idea how Telefoot could understand this, but everyone reports that Karim was targeting Vini in this discussion with Mendy. There is no audio – that I have heard – captured from the tunnel and Benzema covers his mouth with his hand as the two speak.

To reinforce my claim that Benzema did not say this, Vinicius was standing right behind them! I know they spoke French, but don’t you think he would have any idea that he was the one being talked about?

However, statistics could confirm these rumors.

Detailed second-half statistics provide some proof that Benzema was upset with Junior as the forward missed the left-back once in the second half after passing him three times in the first.

Benz posted a strange message on her Instagram after the story broke, saying, “While the dogs are barking, the number 9 passes.”

I hope and wish this is nothing more than a clickbait to get attention and this was not said. We will be waiting and we will wait for more details on this story because, if true, there could be a great internal turmoil at Real Madrid.
